Before I created my magazine I looked at a number of other magazines such as XXL and Vibe to see what conventions they have used in order to sell their magazine so I could on my magazine to make it successful.
My music magazine has a central image which is essential for the front cover of a magazine. The main central image is needed because it is a main selling point of the magazine. For my magazine front cover I have used a central image to attract my target audience. My main image consists of a young teenage girl who is dressed simple but sexy. I have chosen this particular costume for my model as it links into the something in which Rita Ortiz later says in her interview. The fact that she is an “ordinary teenage girl” who has made it to the top. It is very important for a magazine to have a title so that it can be easily distinguished from other magazines. I have used grey and blue to make it stand out from the rest of them and tried to break the conventional colours used my music magazines such as red, blue and black. I have made my title at a regular size but and made the colour stand out from the rest of my magazine so that it catches the eye of my target audience. On the front cover of most magazines the title is located at the top of the front cover and stretches across it from left to right. This is eye catching but conventional. During the process of creating my music magazine I have changed it more then once as I was not happy with it. Experimenting on Photoshop gave me this opportunity. Throughout the process I have aimed to keep my magazine conventional but also to adjust it and express my ideas to make it different and unique but effective, by effective I mean successful in the market.
The cover lines I have used I have thought very carefully about. I have read magazines with the same music genre as mine and same target audience and have thought carefully about the cover lines in which I should include. Also on the front of my music magazine I have added other stories and headlines around the edge of the page, this also draws in readers attentions in towards the magazine, with well know names and quotes of what they say; famous people the fans want to read and find more about them and their lives.

How does my media product represent particular social groups?
How does my media product represent particular social groups?
· I aimed to attract different youth cultures by using the stereotypical black artsists in the contents page as they would fit in suitably with the convention of the Hip Hop/ R&B genre.
· They are also young, which appeals to the audience well because the genre targets the younger, teenage fans and therefore identifies themselves with the artists to a greater degree. They are wearing typical attire that addresses the audience, yet they have also been dressed wearing expensive jewellery with the chains, earrings, bracelots etc which connotes class and wealth. Therefore this subverts the typical ‘thug’ persona to artists, and makes them appear more sophistated and chic which would convey the brand identity of R&B Exclusive well
My music magazine represents teenagers. In addition, young teenagers in general are being portrayed as ambitious and shown to have talent, and not in a stereotypical negative way. This can be found in the interview. For my contents page, I have shown the readers the information that you would usually see on a contents page; the page numbers and what is going to be on the magazine. I aimed to use attractive models throughout so the audience will enjoy the magazine.
